  • Sebastian Hofmann has risen from training as an industrial clerk to become Head of Training and Development at Fritz Winter. Here he reports on his professional career.

I am Sebastian Hofmann and have been working at Fritz Winter since 2019. I started my career with an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, also in an iron foundry. After a dual bachelor's degree in business administration and a subsequent master's degree in business psychology with a focus on personnel development, I continued my professional career as Head of Personnel Development at Fritz Winter. In this area, my team and I are responsible for creating personnel development concepts for specialist and management careers as well as the internal and external training program. I am also responsible for a wide range of other tasks and topics, such as supervising commercial and IT training together with the training officers and individual trainee programs in coordination with the specialist departments.

In May 2023, my area of responsibility was expanded to become Head of Training and Development. Together with my team of eight employees, I now also oversee all training and development topics from a single source. This starts with recruiting trainees for 16 different training professions and providing training for over 120 trainees in two training centers and ends with supporting dual students. Our department is also responsible for topics such as training events and training competitions, school internships, student internships and final theses for Bachelor's and Master's degree courses.

In my job, it is particularly important to me to support employees and trainees in achieving their professional goals. This starts with providing trainees with sound and successful training that is fun and awakens a desire and interest for more. By the latter, I mean the topic of further training. "You never stop learning" is something I always say to our trainees or employees who are interested in further training to become a technician, master craftsman, business administrator or even a university degree. It is always a great pleasure for me to see the professional paths and careers that trainees take after completing their training and that employees take after completing further training. With motivation, ambition, commitment, enthusiasm, joy and reliability, everyone from trainees to employees has access to the many facets of opportunities within training and further education in order to successfully pursue their respective professional and personal paths at Fritz Winter.
