My path in brake development: A success story
- From model fitter to leading position in brake development. Find out how Volker Posch built his career at Fritz Winter and why he is proud to be part of the Fritz Winter family.
I am Volker Posch and started my professional life in 1985 with an apprenticeship as a model fitter. The very good training at Fritz Winter was the foundation for my later career. In 1989, I became a skilled worker and was able to expand and apply my knowledge and skills in various areas of metalworking.
During my mechanical engineering studies from 1991 to 1995, I worked as a student assistant at FW during semester breaks. During that time, I did pretty much everything except canteen manager and porter. This gave me a deep insight into the company and many departments, which still benefits me today. I finally wrote my diploma thesis in 1995 on the subject of "Heat conduction of composite brake discs" in the development department.
After graduating, I was appointed assistant to the plant manager at FW in 1996. This was an exciting and challenging time that gave me the opportunity to develop and improve my leadership skills. I appreciated the camaraderie among colleagues then as I do now.
From 1998 to 2008, I worked in brake development at Continental and gained experience in various areas of the automotive industry. In 2008, I was drawn back to Fritz Winter and have been working in brake development ever since, for the last two years also in a managerial role. From the idea to the ready-to-install product, this is the slogan we identify ourselves with in the development department. It is great fun to accompany the customer from the beginning and then experience the result on the test track.
I am proud to be part of the FW family and to be involved in the development of brakes that help improve safety on our roads. My success story is an example of how hard work and dedication can bear fruit. I am grateful for the support and opportunities FW has given me over the years.
